Patch Variety

Curlews

Curlews nesting in lowland coastal areas is becoming more common. I hope this pair are more successful than the lapwing pair which lost its nest to Fox predation. First Avocet chicks noted today feeding at Druridge.

Bee Orchid

Close shave. DBCP do well to make the place look welcoming to visitors. They have large areas of wild flowers so can be excused the narrow margins that are kept tidy. In fact I mow my lawn but have lots of scruffy areas to encourage wildlife.
