Darters

Think these are all Common Darters. Would welcome any comments. Only first one has pale pterostigmata with broad black surround but lacks blue on lower eye.

Phenomenal

Truly amazing.

Over 2000 Painted Lady butterflies moving through my patch this morning. What an amazing spectacle and has to be my nature highlight of the year! I was at Woodhorn around lunchtime and they were still moving west through the fields.

Four-spotted Chaser?

White-winged Black Tern

Very grateful to the finder of this bird. Can't be on the patch all the time so really pleased to catch up with this bird. If you want to see some proper photos go to the RBA gallery. Frank Golding (an excellent photographer) has posted some magnificent shots. Can't believe he also got Black Tern side by side with White-winged Black Tern. Well done Frank!

1st July 2017 saw a nice adult at the burnmouth East Chev.
