A Good Walk

I think this might be Ichneumon stramentor  (female) unfortunately it lacks the bright yellow tibia I would expect to see.

So a good long walk today from home to DBCP via Druridge Pools, the Coal Road and East Chevington. A grey morning always threatening to rain which probably put off many visitors. Very few cars and hardly any cyclists.

oops misidentified

First time I've seen this on the Chevington patch.

Field Woodrush
(Luzula campestris)

Hedge Mustard
(Sisymbrium officinale)

Delighted to come across this Cuckoo. A very early sighting in April now followed by a more usual May bird. This bird might be a young male? There is some brown in the flight feathers. The white blotches in the wings were transformed into a spotty effect when it flew. Anyone else seeing this in the Druridge Bay area will notice its striking appearance when it flies.

Hound's-tongue
(Cynoglossum officinale)

Garden Spider (spiderlings)

(Araneus duiadematus)
